Main Street Gets Into the Holiday Spirit

Main Street Gets Into the Holiday Spirit

Experience the changes happening on Main Street as we kick-off the holiday season with Small Business Saturday. Since last year, two new businesses have joined our community, others have expanded, many buildings have received façade improvements — including new murals — and pop-ups are opening weekly.

Small Business Saturday includes our Annual Treasure Hunt, which gives you the perfect excuse to shop and eat local. You can even win prizes!

When you arrive in Belair-Edison on Small Business Saturday, look out for the bright pink boutique that opened during the summer. It’s hard to miss the high fashion and custom jewelry that Ashley Thompson is selling at Flawless Flamboyants.

Have you heard of the loaded baked potato from Chelle’s Kitchen? The takeout restaurant opened late last year.

Offering fresh soul food packed with flavor, Chelle’s became an instant neighborhood favorite. One of our staples, Shareef’s Grill, expanded with a juice bar that offers healthy and fresh alternatives to their regular menu.

At 3412 Belair Road we’ll be hosting a pop-up market with:

  • African Authentics – offering beautiful bags from Ghana
  • Tola’s Room, a 6-year-old artist and photographer
  • A Maezing Upscaling – selling woodwork designs
  • My Therapy Creations – highlighting local artisan crafts

You can also visit the other pop-up installations created by Paige Orpin along Main Street. Each business is offering exclusive one-day-only sales. Download flyer.

While you are visiting our Main Street businesses bring your copy of the Annual Treasure Hunt. Go store to store answering trivia questions and make a purchase from at least one store. To enter to win prizes, attach your receipt to your completed trivia sheet and mail it or drop it by the BENI office no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, November 30th. Your completed form will be placed in a raffle for prizes and winners will be announced on December 1st.

After Small Business Saturday and the Annual Treasure Hunt, we’ll continue the holiday festivities in Belair-Edison when we host our 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 15th from 5-8 p.m. This free, family-friendly community event takes place in Herring Run Park, on the corner of Shannon Drive and Mannasota Ave.

Enjoy holiday music, holiday treats, and arts and crafts activities for families, including ornament-making and pictures with Santa. There is also an opportunity to give back this holiday season with our community toy drive. If you’d like to participate, please bring an unwrapped gift appropriate for ages 4-17 to the tree lighting. We also accept cash donations, which we’ll use to purchase additional gifts for the toy drive.

We hope to see you there!
