07 Jun Free Summer Sports Leagues for Kids
With summer right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how the kids will spend their time off! We have a great opportunity right here in Belair-Edison with FREE organized sports leagues. Our friends at Herring Run Park have partnered with the Volo City Kids Foundation to offer a free kids flag football league on Tuesday evenings from June 27th – August 1st.
If flag football isn’t for your kid(s) and you can also travel outside of the neighborhood, check out one of the other six locations where Volo City Kids Foundation will be providing free leagues to Baltimore City kids ages 6-12-years-old. The summer season offers nine different leagues giving kids an opportunity to participate in sports like flag football, volleyball, sailing, soccer and basketball for free. Each kid receives a shirt and any equipment that is needed. Each sport is one night a week for 75 minutes of play followed by free food & drink donated by local businesses within the community. Through a dedicated support system of volunteers, Volo City Kids Foundation provides a structured environment of coaches and refs that is supervised and safe for the six-week program.
To register for a summer league, parents and kids are invited to attend Volo City’s Launch Party this Saturday, June 10, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. From 11:00 am -1:00 pm there will be organized football, soccer and volleyball games for the kids. And since Volo City Kids leagues always feeds their kids, they’ll also be providing free food to kids on Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
The Launch Party will be a day full of fun for the kids. In addition to organized games, FX Studios and Pixelated Photo Booths will also be on location to provide activities for the kids. Kids and parents will enjoy the live music, DJ, and there’s sure to be some additional fun surprises through the day.
